Full-text search

Search across every page you have saved — titles and body text, with highlighted snippets and collection filters, so a page is one query away.

Last updated

An archive you cannot search is a shoebox. PagePocket indexes the full text of every page you save, so the words inside the page — not a folder name you had to remember — are how you find it again.

What is indexed

For each saved page, the search index covers:

  • the page title, and
  • the page's body text, extracted from the archived copy.

Search matches words and short phrases. Results return the page with a highlighted snippet of the matching passage, so you can judge a hit before opening it — often you will recognise the page from the snippet alone.

How to search

Two entry points, same index:

  • The search bar in the app's top bar surfaces matching pages as a live preview while you type; press through for the full result list.
  • The search page shows the complete result list with snippets, and adds a collection filter — restrict the query to one collection when you already know which project a page belongs to.

When a save becomes searchable

Indexing happens automatically as part of the cloud save, and a page becomes searchable as soon as its index entry is written. If indexing is interrupted (never fully uploaded page, connection dropped mid-save), the system retries automatically rather than leaving the page permanently unsearchable.

Honest limits

  • Images and PDFs are not transcribed. A scanned page is found by its title; the words inside the image are not in the index.
  • Scripts don't run in the viewer, so text that only materialises from client-side code (infinite feeds, embedded app views) is only indexed as far as it was actually captured — see Saving pages for how scrolling capture handles this.
  • Search covers your library only. PagePocket is a private archive; nothing you save is ever searched by, or visible to, anyone else unless you share it.
